In line with the promotion of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), the Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) and the eDOST-INFRA: Upgrading of DOST ICT Infrastructure and Interconnectivity Network Project conducted the Batch 1 of IPv6 Training for DOST Network Administrators on 26-27 October 2011 at the DOST Executive Lounge, Gen. Santos Ave., Bicutan, Taguig City.
Said training aims to provide a technical know-how on running the new Internet Protocol, in support of Executive Order 893, promoting the deployment and use of IPv6.
The target of this IPv6 Training is to expose the DOST Network Administrators to IPv6. This is important since IPv6 usage is an initiative of the Department,” said Training Instructor Rod James U. Bio.
The IPv6 Training for DOST Network Administrators was participated in, by the DOST-ITD, DOST-MIMAROPA, DOST-NCR, FNRI, FPRDI, ITDI, MIRDC, NAST, NRCP, PAGASA, PCAARRD, PCHRD, PCIEERD, PSHS, PTRI, STII, TAPI and TELOF.
A second batch training would likewise be conducted on 23-24 November 2011 at ASTI to be participated in, by the PCAARRD Regional Consortia Regional Management Information System Coordinators and DOST-Regional Offices technical staff.
Several IPv6 trainings and workshops were conducted already by ASTI. Among the ASTI-conducted trainings are the 2011 Philippine IPv6 Conference and Training held last 24-27 January 2011 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Makati, IPv6 Training for University of the Philippines Technical Staff held last 27-28 October 2011, and Beginners Training on IPv6 held last 12-13 October 2011 at the Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro.
